Basic Science and Technology Club – According to the UNESCO National Commission in Iran: Amir Mohammad Chehre and Maryam Saliknejad, two young Iranian researchers, were selected from more than twenty domestic applicants and introduced to the Great Wall of China 2025 Scholarship Secretariat by the UNESCO National Commission in Iran. Ultimately, these two researchers succeeded in being included in the final list of scholarship winners.
The Great Wall of China Scholarship is an international program aimed at promoting scientific cooperation, knowledge exchange and sustainable development, organized in collaboration with UNESCO and the Chinese government. This scholarship is awarded annually to master’s, doctoral and research students active in various scientific fields from around the world. For the academic year 2025-2026, the program included 75 one-year study grants, with each country being allowed to nominate only two people from among the 194 UNESCO member states. The National Commission for UNESCO in Iran, while congratulating the two researchers, considered this achievement a symbol of youth empowerment (in line with SDG 4: quality education) and promoting the status of women in science (in line with SDG 5: gender equality), and emphasized that participation in such international programs is an important step towards realizing innovation and global participation (SDG 17). The Basic Sciences and Technology Club, as the science promotion arm of this commission, has supported this success and hopes that this inspiring path will pave the way for a broader presence of Iranian researchers in the global scientific and technological arenas.
