Spreading knowledge is one of UNESCO’s missions in higher education

A meeting of the members of the Policy Council of the Young Scholars and Scientists Festival with the Secretary-General of the UNESCO-Iran National Commission was held in the office of the Secretary-General of the UNESCO-Iran National Commission. Ali Akbar Motkan presented suggestions on benefiting from UNESCO’s successful experiences in the internationalization of this festival.

Emphasizing the importance of holding festivals of this kind, he listed the Young Scholars and Scientists Festival in line with UNESCO’s missions in the field of higher education and called for introducing a representative of the festival to the UNESCO National Commission in order to expand bilateral interactions for holding the festival at the international level.

While introducing the Jamili Charity Foundation and the purpose of its establishment, Engineer Jamili noted: The Young Scholars and Scientists Festival has started its activities exclusively in the field of basic sciences six years ago and in line with the goals of the foundation. For this purpose, it has conducted extensive studies on similar festivals in the world. Considering the main support of these types of knowledge-based events in the world, which are scientific foundations; The Jamili Charity Foundation has been renamed the Jamili Science and Technology Foundation, and its main goal is to support the expansion of knowledge at the national and international levels and to properly utilize the capacities of the country’s top universities as fundamental and spiritual sponsors alongside this festival.

Dr. Salehi, Deputy Minister for Research at the Ministry of Science, also stated the main goal of this festival to create motivation and hope in Iranian youth and presented a report on the holding of the Policy Council meetings with the presence of the Minister of Science, Research and Technology at the Ministry of Science.

It should be noted that Akbar Yousefi, Deputy Minister for Executive Affairs, Samaneh Yazdani, Deputy Minister for International Affairs and Head of the Social Sciences Department, Sahar Ahmadizadeh, Director of the Science Department, Hoda Zare, Scientific Advisor, and Hassan Motamedi, Financial Advisor to the UNESCO-Iran National Commission, were present at this meeting.
