Holding a ceremony to honor the winners of the 7th Young Thinkers and Scientists Festival

The closing ceremony of the 7th Young Scholars and Scientists Festival, supported by the Jamili Science and Technology Foundation, was held simultaneously with the Research Week of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology at the Allameh Amini Hall of the University of Tehran, in the presence of Dr. Mohammad Ali Zolfigol (Honorable Minister of Science), Dr. Seyed Mohammad Moghimi (President of the University of Tehran), Dr. Mahmoud Kamaraei (Chairman of the Festival), Eng. Ebrahim Jamili (Chairman of the Festival Policy Council), Dr. Vahid Niknam (Secretary of the Festival), Dr. Peyman Salehi (Deputy Research Officer of the Ministry of Science), and a group of veterans, professors, and idea generators.

Eng. Jamili, the Chairman of the Festival Policy Council, stated that creating hope in youth, creating employment, and moving in a technological direction are the issues of the day, and emphasized: The Young Scholars and Scientists Festival is held with the aim of supporting the ideas of youth and new businesses and improving the country’s scientific position at the technological level.

Dr. Kamaraei, the festival director, added: In this period, 335 ideas were received from the festival, 284 of which were from young people and idea-generating teams, 33 of which advanced to the next stage after the judging. Also, 51 works were received in the business section, 10 of which were business plans and 10 initial ideas advanced to the second stage. In the Young Model Professor section, 52 people expressed their readiness to be evaluated, and ultimately 1 person advanced to the final stage.
Dr. Zolfi Gol, the Minister of Science, while referring to the Islamic World Citation Database (ISC) and the list of more than 400 scientists in the top 1% of humanities and indigenous sciences, announced that Dr. Moghimi (President of the University of Tehran) was also on that list and was an honor. He also emphasized: The Jamili Foundation’s intelligent choice in entering the field of basic sciences and selecting the best in basic sciences, in addition to scientific excellence, is their special look at the field of technology, which is considered one of the special innovations and ingenuity that has been used in organizing and managing the festival.
The Minister of Science continued: Benefactors who support science and technology are the country’s scientific investors and we should be grateful to them because they make scientists stand out on a global level.

Referring to the process of elitism and elitism, Dr. Moghimi – President of the University of Tehran stated: Sometimes we even kill elitists in the name of elitism.

Emphasizing the efforts of the Jamili Foundation to hold the Festival of Young Scholars and Scientists, he said: This festival has been able to solve the problems of identifying elites, because it is more focused on new ideas, new businesses, and idea generation. He also pointed out that the Festival of Young Scholars and Scientists focuses on basic sciences and recognizes scientists active in this field, which was held by the Jamili Foundation and with the support of the University of Tehran, and said: This festival is commendable and unique in several aspects. Because it is held specifically and specialized in basic sciences.

During this scientific event, a panel entitled “Idea Makers’ Needs, Government and Private Sector Responsibilities” was held with the presence of Dr. Mehdi Eliasi – Deputy Minister of Policy and Development of the Presidential Vice-President for Science and Technology, Dr. Farzin Fardis – Member of the Board of Directors of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Peyman Salehi – Deputy Minister of Research of the Ministry of Science, and Dr. Iraj Tajeddin – Director of the Mining Department of Zarrin Holding and Chairman of the Board of Directors of its New Business Group.

At the end, Mr. Hooman Bakhshi – the first winner of the sixth edition of the Young Thinkers and Scientists Festival awarded the valuable flag of the festival to the winner of the seventh edition – Mr. Mohammad Reza Gholaminejad.
