UNESCO acts as a think tank, a global center for the exchange of information and a laboratory for ideas, and conducts forward-looking studies.

Standardization

UNESCO plays the role of a global standard-setting and supervisory organization and formulates intellectual, normative, and ethical issues through the formulation of international guidelines, recommendations, and conventions.

Information Exchange Center

UNESCO, like other specialized agencies of the United Nations system, is the custodian and trustee of the knowledge acquired in the scope of its activities and acts as the main information exchange center in the field of collecting information from member countries and exchanging and disseminating it equally and fairly among them.

Capacity building

Through educational, scientific and cultural activities carried out in member countries, this organization strives to strengthen their technical, scientific and human capacity for active participation in their fields of activity and to bridge the scientific gap between the countries of the North and the South.

Facilitator of international cooperation

UNESCO, through its offices around the world, has the necessary capacity to implement its programmes at national, regional and international levels. Accordingly, UNESCO plays a facilitating role in international cooperation and ensures the effective implementation of projects.
