Speech by the Minister of Science, Research and Technology at the Closing Ceremony of the Seventh Festival of Young Thinkers and Scientists

According to the Public Relations Department of the Young Scholars and Scientists Festival, Dr. Mohammad Ali Zolfigol, Minister of Science, Research and Technology, at the closing of the 7th Young Scholars and Scientists Festival, expressed special gratitude to Dr. Seyed Mohammad Moghimi, President of the University of Tehran, and special appreciation to the Jamili Science and Technology Foundation, stating: “It is a privilege to attend such a ceremony organized to honor the elite and future leaders; we are grateful to God for granting us this privilege.”

Dr. Mohammad Ali Zolfigol, while congratulating the festival’s winners, added: “God willing, He will create conditions that will allow you to always shine like the sun in the scientific sphere of Iran and the world. I humbly ask God to place the great ones on your path, just as He has placed Engineer Jamili and the President of the University of Tehran on your path.” A few days ago, the Islamic World Citation Database, which indexes the scientific productions of Iran and the Islamic world, introduced a list of more than 400 scientists in the top 1% of the humanities and indigenous sciences, which makes me proud that the name of the esteemed president of the University of Tehran is among the top 1% scientists. It is expected of such a university president to make every effort to create a platform for the further growth of elites, elite selection, elite training, and elite recruitment. During the time I was in charge of the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology, various and different ceremonies were held at the University of Tehran to acknowledge elites, top professors, and researchers, and most importantly, they maintained the dignity of benefactors.

Dr. Zelfigol continued: Benefactors should always be appreciated and placed at the top. The intelligent choice of the Jamili Science and Technology Foundation and Mr. Engineer Jamili to enter the field of basic sciences and select the best of basic sciences who, in addition to scientific excellence, also have a technological perspective is one of the initiatives used in organizing the festival. Blessed are the benefactors who have generous hands and spend their money and resources to make the hearts, progress, and welfare of others happy.

He finally added: When we introduce a person in the scientific field, we respect him and this changes the future path of a person. There is a proverb in our culture that says that spring cannot be made with a single flower, but I strongly believe that spring can be made with a single flower. If a professor, leader, university president, worthy benefactor, etc. encourages someone, he may become a scientist who will win a Nobel Prize in the future and his theory will lead to new technology.
